The United Nations has strongly condemned an Israeli attack on a medical and humanitarian convoy in Rafah, southern Gaza, which left 15 aid workers dead. The victims included members of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Civil Defense teams, and an employee of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, called the attack a blatant violation of international law, expressing outrage over the discovery of the victims' bodies eight days later. Their vehicles bore clear marks of destruction, raising serious concerns about Israeli military actions before and after the assault.
The convoy, dispatched to rescue casualties from an earlier Israeli airstrike, was ambushed by Israeli forces, leaving emergency responders injured and out of contact. Despite repeated calls for protection of humanitarian workers, Israel continues to target those risking their lives to save others.
The international community has urged accountability, yet Israeli aggression against aid efforts persists. As Gaza’s humanitarian crisis worsens, the world’s silence enables the continuation of these atrocities.
