Shuja'iyya Massacre: Gaza Mourns as Israeli Bombardment Levels Homes, Kills Families

At least 22 Palestinians, most of them children, were killed today in yet another Israeli massacre in the Shuja'iyya neighbourhood, east of Gaza City. An entire residential block made up of eight homes was obliterated in a single, deliberate airstrike—leaving more than 60 wounded and dozens still trapped beneath the rubble. Emergency crews continue to dig through the debris in search of at least 30 missing persons, but their work is slowed by the scale of destruction and lack of equipment.

Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal warned that the death toll may exceed 50, accusing Israeli forces of intentionally targeting densely populated civilian areas to inflict maximum casualties. "The destruction is immense. We need heavy machinery to recover the dead and reach those still alive. But Gaza has been stripped of such capacity," he said, calling the strike a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

Hospitals, already overwhelmed and barely functioning, are reporting severe injuries—burns, amputations, and trauma cases flooding in with no space or resources to treat them. Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, described the medical situation as catastrophic. He issued an urgent plea for blood donations and international assistance as Al-Mamadani Hospital struggles to cope with the influx of victims.

With Gaza’s healthcare system in ruins and emergency services operating with battered ambulances and makeshift transport, today's tragedy is another chapter in what Palestinians describe as a campaign of annihilation. Amid the rubble and grief, Gaza continues to bleed—its people left to endure, resist, and remember those buried beneath the broken stones of their homes.
