Al-Aqsa Mosque is facing an escalating threat as extremist groups plan multiple incursions during the upcoming Jewish Passover holiday. These groups, often associated with the so-called "Temple Mount" movement, have released a schedule detailing their activities, which are set to involve prominent rabbis and activists.
Researcher Ziyad Abuhijleh has highlighted that the planned incursions will take place over four days, starting on Monday, April 14, 2025. The first incursion will be led by Tomi Nisani, founder of the "Temple Mount Is in Our Hands" organisation, raising concerns about the growing involvement of influential figures in these actions.
On the following days, incursions will continue, featuring individuals such as Professor Dan Bahat, who seeks to align archaeological findings with biblical narratives, and activist Arnon Segal, known for provocative imagery promoting far-right ideologies. These incursions are not just religious events; they represent a systematic effort to assert control over Al-Aqsa and promote a narrative that disregards its Islamic significance.
Abuhijleh warns that these activities, particularly on the final day of Passover, will involve Rabbi Moshe Feiglin, who aims to conduct religious rituals at the site. This approach, coupled with media coverage, underscores the intent to normalise the presence of settlers within the mosque, effectively pushing a narrative of Judaisation.
The ongoing incursions pose a serious threat to the identity and sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as these actions seek to transform it into a centre for Jewish worship, despite its enduring Islamic architectural heritage. The situation calls for urgent attention to protect the mosque and uphold its significance as a site of Muslim worship.
