Over 3,380 Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the first three days of the Jewish Passover, under heavy protection from the Israeli occupation forces, according to the Wadi Hilweh Information Centre.
The Israeli occupation transformed Jerusalem’s Old City into a military zone, imposing sweeping restrictions on Palestinian worshippers, obstructing access to Al-Aqsa Mosque, and detaining several individuals.
Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, warned that these incursions send a “dangerous message” aimed at altering the religious and historical identity of Islamic holy sites in Palestine. He further condemned the provocative visit by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.
Sabri held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the desecration of both Al-Aqsa and the Ibrahimi Mosque. He denounced the performance of Talmudic rituals inside Al-Aqsa as a violation of Muslim sanctities and a provocation against worshippers, calling on Palestinians to mobilise and protect the mosque.
According to the Palestinian Governorate of Jerusalem, settler incursions into Al-Aqsa have sharply increased compared to last year, rising from 494 on Sunday to 1,732 on Tuesday, in what appears to be a state-backed escalation.
