As the people of Gaza endure relentless bombing, forced displacement, and mass destruction, the United States has approved yet another shipment of lethal arms to Israel—this time, over 3,000 powerful bombs, with thousands more to follow. These weapons, including the deadly 900kg MK-84 bombs known for their devastating toll on civilian lives, arrive as Israel signals a dramatic intensification of its military campaign in the besieged Palestinian territory.
Reports from Israeli media, citing unnamed officials, reveal that the munitions are intended to prepare for a large-scale ground offensive spearheaded by Israel’s Southern Command. The announcement coincides with increasing military activity near Rafah, where over a million displaced Palestinians have taken refuge in makeshift tents and schools, hoping to survive amid rubble and ruin.
Encircled and under constant threat, the people of Rafah now face the terrifying reality of being trapped with nowhere safe to flee. Israeli forces have seized key strategic routes and pushed deeper into the south, despite mounting international concern over civilian casualties and the collapse of Gaza’s basic infrastructure.
Since mid-March, over 1,600 Palestinians have been killed, and thousands more wounded, in a campaign that has flattened entire neighbourhoods and devastated hospitals, schools, and water systems. The arrival of new bombs from Washington, rather than signalling restraint or diplomacy, underscores a grim truth: the war on Gaza is not slowing—it is being resupplied.
In Gaza, where every bomb means another family shattered, another home destroyed, and another child buried, the silence of much of the international community feels deafening. And while Israel continues to receive unimpeded support, Palestinians are left mourning their dead, surrounded by dust, fire, and a sky that never stops falling.
