"Gaza's Unending Nightmare": Author Exposes Humanitarian Catastrophe in New Book

Middle East expert Agnès Levallois will present her damning investigation Gaza's Black Bookthis Saturday in Carhaix, Brittany, at an event organised by the France-Palestine Solidarity Association. The work documents Israel's 18-month assault on Gaza which has killed over 51,000 Palestinians and decimated the territory's infrastructure.

The Paris-based academic, who teaches at Sciences Po and ENA, meticulously traces how Gaza's healthcare system collapsed under targeted Israeli attacks, with 184 medical personnel detained or disappeared since October 2023. Her research highlights disturbing testimonies from survivors of Israel's military prisons, including the case of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya - the paediatrician detained without charge after refusing to evacuate his hospital.

The free public discussion comes as UN agencies warn famine has become weaponised in Gaza, where Israel continues blocking humanitarian aid. Levallois' analysis challenges Western media narratives, foregrounding Palestinian experiences of what she terms "an extermination campaign dressed as counterterrorism". The event will include a book signing at Karaez Park hall, offering Breton audiences rare insight into Europe's complicity in the crisis.
