On World Press Freedom Day, Palestinian media organisations have launched a powerful campaign under the hashtag #Bleeding_Journalism to shed light on the harsh realities faced by journalists in Palestine. This campaign aims to expose the ongoing violations against Palestinian journalists, as they endure constant attacks, harassment, and censorship while striving to report the truth from a land torn apart by occupation.
The initiative calls for global solidarity and highlights the grave dangers Palestinian reporters face, from physical assaults and arbitrary arrests to targeted killings and the obstruction of their work. Journalists covering the daily struggles in Palestine are subjected to severe repression, with little regard for international law that is supposed to protect press freedom.
The campaign, which will take place across various social media platforms, encourages journalists, media outlets, and human rights organisations to share their experiences, reports, and testimonies of the risks and violence faced on the ground. By uniting these voices, the initiative seeks to pressure international bodies to hold Israel accountable for its systematic targeting of journalists and to demand the protection of press freedom in conflict zones.
Through this campaign, Palestinian media groups are not only calling for justice but also emphasising the fundamental right of journalists to report without fear or obstruction.
