The European Union has expressed grave concern over Israel's intentions to expand its military campaign in Gaza, warning that further escalation would only deepen the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the besieged territory.
Speaking from Brussels, EU Commission spokesperson Anwar Al-Anouni urged Israel to abandon its latest military plan, which reportedly includes the occupation of Gaza and the forced displacement of its population to the south. Al-Anouni warned that such actions would drastically increase civilian casualties and worsen the already dire conditions for Palestinians.
The EU reiterated its call for the immediate, unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and the restoration of electricity and vital services in Gaza. Al-Anouni stressed the urgent need to lift the blockade, allowing life-saving aid to reach the more than two million people trapped under siege.
Israeli media earlier revealed that the new military strategy, approved unanimously by the Israeli Cabinet, signals a shift from tactical ground incursions to full occupation. This aligns with far-right calls from officials like Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who have openly advocated for re-settling Gaza.
As the world watches in dismay, Palestinians in Gaza continue to endure bombardment, displacement, and starvation—all under a deepening silence from global powers that claim to champion human rights.
