Tariq Al-Shaya', President of the Global Youth for Jerusalem Association, has denounced what he describes as the “crime of the century,” accusing the Israeli occupation of deliberately starving Gaza’s entire population through a systematic and brutal policy of collective punishment.
Speaking to Shehab News Agency, Al-Shaya' warned that after nearly 20 months of unrelenting aggression and a tightened siege over the past two months, over two million Palestinians in Gaza now face the daily threat of catastrophic famine. "This is not a temporary humanitarian crisis—it is a contemporary act of genocide unfolding in full view of the international community," he said.
Al-Shaya' condemned the global silence as complicity, arguing that inaction by international actors is more dangerous than weapons: "The silence gives the killer permission to continue.”
He urged the international community and human rights organisations to urgently assume their moral and legal duties, stressing that failure to act now risks allowing this humanitarian catastrophe to deepen beyond repair.
