Gaza’s hospitals are on the verge of total collapse. Months of siege, targeted destruction, and the deliberate obstruction of humanitarian aid have pushed the healthcare system into a state of paralysis. Medical staff, already exhausted by relentless bombardment, are forced to treat patients without anaesthesia, surgical tools, or even hospital beds.
Operating theatres and intensive care units now resemble makeshift shelters, stripped of the basic equipment needed to save lives. Supplies like medical gases, disinfectants, and even burial shrouds have run out. Infection is rampant. Doctors Without Borders has called the situation “beyond catastrophic,” as medics attempt the impossible—treating thousands of wounded without even food or clean water.
This is not a natural disaster. It is the result of a man-made blockade, imposed since early March, choking off every lifeline into the Strip. For over two months, no aid has been allowed to enter—not fuel, not medicine, not food. International appeals for access remain unanswered.
Behind every failed surgery, every untreated wound, every child denied oxygen, lies a political decision to turn Gaza into a place where healing is impossible. Yet despite it all, Palestinian medics continue their work—unarmed, exhausted, and defiant.
