“No One Left to Save Them”: Gaza’s North Plunged Into Chaos Amid Relentless Israeli Assault

Northern Gaza is witnessing one of the darkest moments of this war, as Israeli bombardment reaches levels described by local rescue workers as “insane” and “beyond catastrophic.” Civil defence teams say entire families are being buried under rubble, while survivors are left to die in the streets, unreachable amid relentless airstrikes.

Emergency crews report being targeted as they try to reach victims, with ambulances hit and roads destroyed. In some areas, dozens of bodies remain where they fell—on pavements, at roundabouts, inside homes turned to dust. In Beit Lahia and Jabalia, at least 50 bodies have been recovered, but many more are feared trapped beneath collapsed buildings, including members of a civil defence team killed alongside their families.

Those still alive are sending desperate appeals, but with no equipment and no protection, Gaza’s civil defence teams can only watch the death toll rise. “We are out of time, out of tools, and out of words,” said one rescuer.

As mass killings continue and the world looks away, Palestinians describe the violence not as chaos, but as a policy. A policy of destruction, displacement, and denial of rescue. And as Gaza’s skies burn red, hope flickers only in the unwavering will of its people to survive, even when the world has abandoned them.
