The Israeli onslaught on Gaza has escalated to an unprecedented level, with no place left untouched. Captain Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defence, confirmed there are no humanitarian zones remaining, as the Israeli military pounds the entire Strip with relentless force.
According to Basal, Israeli forces now control nearly a third of Gaza’s territory—from the devastated north and east to parts of Rafah in the south. Yet this control brings no safety—only deeper devastation. The intensity of bombardment has reportedly doubled, with killing and destruction far surpassing the early days of what Palestinians call a genocidal war.
Civil Defence crews are increasingly unable to respond, as attacks target not only civilians but also emergency responders and critical infrastructure. “This is no longer a military operation,” Basal warned, “it’s an assault on life itself.”
