Gaza Ceasefire in Ruins as Israeli Occupation Resumes Genocidal Assault

Just two months after a fragile ceasefire offered a glimmer of hope, the Israeli occupation has resumed its full-scale assault on Gaza, unleashing dozens of airstrikes on 18 March that killed over 400 Palestinians and injured more than 500 others in just a few hours. Most of the victims were women and children.

The ceasefire, which had lasted 42 days, was part of a three-phase agreement that included a partial Israeli withdrawal and the return of displaced families to the ruins of their homes. It also initiated a hostage exchange process between the resistance and Israel. But instead of honouring the deal’s second and third phases, each intended to last 42 days and culminate in a permanent cessation of hostilities, Israel abandoned the agreement entirely and reignited its bombing campaign.

Since the beginning of this ongoing genocide, the death toll in Gaza has reached 55,362, with 128,741 reported injuries, about 72% of them women and children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

This renewed violence signals not only the collapse of ceasefire efforts but also a brutal reaffirmation of Israel’s commitment to military domination rather than peace. The Palestinian people, already devastated by displacement, hunger, and loss, now face yet another chapter of relentless bombardment.
