As the Israeli assault on Gaza intensifies, the Palestinian Journalists Forum has condemned the role of Israeli media in normalising and encouraging violence against Palestinians. In a statement responding to a recent Guardian investigation, the Forum warned that Israeli broadcasts have gone far beyond reporting, acting instead as a platform for incitement, dehumanisation, and open calls for genocide.
The Forum described the media content as not only unethical but in direct breach of international law. It accused Israeli outlets of using their platforms to legitimise war crimes and reinforce public support for a campaign that has devastated civilian life in Gaza. These broadcasts, it argued, are not isolated incidents but part of a wider climate of hate that gives political and military leaders a social licence to continue their assaults with impunity.
The Forum urged the United Nations and international media watchdogs to act swiftly and investigate the complicity of Israeli media in crimes against the Palestinian people. It called on journalists worldwide to speak out against the erosion of professional integrity and to expose the role of the press in perpetuating state-led violence.
In its final remarks, the Forum stressed that freedom of expression cannot be distorted into a weapon of racism and incitement. Silence, it warned, makes collaborators of those who should be defenders of truth.
