France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has condemned the deadly scenes surrounding food distribution in Gaza, calling them “a scandal, a disgrace, and a violation of human dignity.” His statement comes as international outrage mounts over the U.S.- and Israeli-backed aid mechanisms that have turned humanitarian relief into a deadly gamble for starving civilians.
Barrot insisted there is no justification for Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, echoing a growing global chorus accusing the “Humanitarian Gaza” distribution plan of functioning more as a death trap than a lifeline.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned that the American-led process is unsafe and failing catastrophically, noting that even aid workers are now starving. “The search for food should not be a death sentence,” he said, reminding Israel of its legal duty, as an occupying power, to allow unimpeded humanitarian access.
Médecins Sans Frontières added that the system deliberately degrades Palestinian dignity, forcing people to choose between hunger and death.
With over two million Palestinians trapped under siege and border crossings sealed, Gaza now faces a man-made famine. In the words of one diplomat: this is not aid, it’s cruelty disguised as relief.
