Gaza Suffocates as World Watches in Silence

The collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system has reached a terrifying new stage, as hospitals across the Strip shut down after the main oxygen plant was forced to halt operations. The Euro-Mediterranean Medical Association has condemned the development as a “death sentence” for thousands of patients, blaming Israel’s relentless targeting of medical infrastructure and the inaction of the international community.

In a stark statement, Dr Mohammad Hasan Al-Tarawneh warned that the lack of oxygen now threatens lives on a massive scale, particularly among critical patients on ventilators. He described the situation not merely as a medical emergency, but a “humanitarian crime” unfolding in real time.

Entire hospitals are now non-functional, their corridors emptied of equipment and staff, while Gaza’s wounded and ill are left to gasp for breath. The blockade continues to prevent even the most basic supplies from entering, as vital aid remains trapped at border crossings.

The Association has called on the world to open humanitarian corridors and deliver emergency medical assistance without delay. It also placed direct responsibility on international actors for failing to act, stating that their silence has enabled the slow, systematic dismantling of Gaza’s health system.

As oxygen runs out and hope fades, the question remains: how many more must die before the world draws a red line?
