Gaza Media Office Warns of Deepening Famine Amid Blockade and Misinformation

The Gaza Government Media Office issued a stark warning Thursday about the rapidly worsening famine in the Strip as the Israeli blockade and border closures enter their 145th consecutive day. The total shutdown continues to block vital food, medicine, and infant formula from reaching over 2.4 million Palestinians.

According to official figures, Gaza needs more than 500,000 bags of flour each week just to meet basic nutritional needs. Severe shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies have already caused at least 115 deaths from hunger and malnutrition, based on hospital records.

The office also condemned recent false claims suggesting that the humanitarian crisis has eased, such as assertions that the famine has been “broken” or that “hundreds of aid trucks” are entering Gaza. These narratives, it warned, distort reality and risk amplifying misleading propaganda pushed by Israeli sources.

Urgently appealing to the international community, the office called for an immediate end to the blockade and the sustained reopening of all crossings to allow continuous humanitarian access. It also urged Palestinians and global activists to verify information carefully, highlighting that misinformation only obscures the true scale of suffering and hampers coordinated efforts to save lives.

As the crisis deepens, Gaza’s people face a cruel reality: starvation and deprivation amid a world too often misled about their plight.
