Local associations organized an activity to plant 600 olive trees in Alrras area, western Salfit town, supported by PARC and APN organizations.
Walid Assaf, head of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, stated that this activity is a part of “protecting mountain tops” initiative and a way to cultivate the lands threatened to be settled.
He added, “this activity is in response to settlers’ assaults to dredge and uproot olive trees in Alrras and to resist building settlement outposts in the area.
He also pointed out that the project Israel intends to implement in this area is one of the riskiest settlement projects, in which it aims to separate the north of the West Bank from its middle.
He also stated that they will resist this project that is outside international law politically and legally.
“We will drop down and remove this outpost through our ongoing initiatives,” he confirmed.
Head of Salfit municipality, Abdelkarim Zbidi, noted that this initiative is a starting point to other initiatives of cultivating olive trees to protect lands threatened to be settled in Alrras area.
