Misguided Aid Airdrops Turn Deadly in Gaza

Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, flawed international aid airdrops have killed 23 Palestinians and injured 124, according to local authorities. Many of these parachuted shipments have landed in Israeli-controlled or forcibly evacuated zones, forcing desperate civilians to risk their lives under the threat of direct targeting. Others have plunged into the sea, causing drownings, or crashed into crowded areas, turning what should be life-saving relief into a source of further tragedy.

Gaza’s officials have long warned that such delivery methods are inhumane and ineffective, insisting that aid must enter in secure and sufficient quantities through land crossings. They stress that food, infant formula, and medical supplies should be prioritised over chaotic air drops that often fail to reach those most in need.

Condemning what they describe as a deliberate policy of starvation and disorder, authorities hold Israel, the United States, and complicit governments responsible for the worsening crisis. They urge urgent action to open crossings and guarantee unrestricted humanitarian assistance before more lives are lost to both hunger and failed relief efforts.
