Nine members of humanitarian aid security teams were killed and several others wounded on Wednesday after Israeli forces bombed Al-Saftawi junction in northern Gaza, according to the Ministry of Interior. The ministry said the attack was part of Israel’s deliberate policy of using starvation as a weapon by obstructing and targeting efforts to deliver aid.
These security teams are tasked with protecting aid convoys and ensuring that food and supplies reach the most vulnerable, including orphans, widows, the wounded and medical staff. By striking them, the ministry added, Israel seeks to spread chaos, foster looting and engineer famine across the besieged Strip.
International agencies have long warned that Gaza’s population faces catastrophic levels of hunger due to the blockade and repeated assaults on aid distribution. The ministry urged the global community to act, stressing that silence in the face of such attacks amounts to complicity in a policy that is destroying civilian lives each day.
As calls grow for aid convoys to be allowed into Gaza, Israel continues to block deliveries under shifting pretexts, leaving hundreds of thousands at the brink of starvation.
