Over 80 international organisations have united to call on governments and corporations to cease all trade and investment with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, which they describe as illegal under international law. They warn that continued economic activity directly fuels the displacement of Palestinian communities and entrenches the humanitarian crisis caused by the occupation.
The coalition’s report highlights major multinational companies, accusing them of profiting from or enabling settlement expansion. French retailer Carrefour is criticised for selling settlement-produced goods, British manufacturer JCB for supplying equipment used to demolish homes and crops, Barclays Bank for financing settlement-linked activities, and Siemens for providing infrastructure that benefits settlements.
The appeal urges governments, particularly in the European Union and the United Kingdom, to implement clear bans on trade and investment with settlements, while calling on banks and financial institutions to halt financing of companies involved in these projects. This call follows UN findings showing that global corporations play a central role in normalising and sustaining the illegal settlement enterprise, reinforcing the occupation and the systemic displacement of Palestinians.
