The Ministry of Health in Gaza has warned that hospitals are operating under catastrophic conditions, with patient occupancy surpassing 250 percent. Overcrowded wards, extreme shortages of staff, medicines, and equipment, and the relentless influx of the wounded have pushed Gaza’s fragile health system beyond the point of collapse.
Emergency departments in the few hospitals still functioning are overwhelmed, while medical teams struggle to perform life-saving interventions without blood supplies or basic equipment. The ministry described Gaza’s reality as a “triangle of terror”, hunger, bombardment, and denial of treatment,in which patients and casualties are trapped with no safe refuge.
Nearly 800,000 residents remain in Gaza City under constant bombardment, while mass displacement towards the south has further strained depleted facilities. The health ministry warned that indicators show the Strip is on the brink of a total depletion of medicines and supplies, pushing the situation beyond crisis into a full-scale catastrophe.
Since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal war on 7 October 2023, at least 65,141 Palestinians have been killed and 165,925 wounded, most of them women and children. Starvation has also taken hold, with famine claiming 435 lives, including 147 children, underlining the unbearable cost of a war deliberately targeting Gaza’s civilians and its lifeline services.
