Al-Zeer: Gaza Genocide Continues Because of Global Complicity and Arab Silence

Majed Al-Zeer, head of the Palestinian-European Council for Political Relations, has accused the international community, and particularly Western powers, of enabling Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza through political and military backing. He stressed that the atrocities unfolding for nearly two years, mass killings, displacement, starvation, and destruction, could not persist without such cover.

Al-Zeer also condemned what he called the weakness and complacency of Arab governments, pointing to states like Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, and the UAE that continue to uphold agreements with Israel despite the carnage. He argued that the emergency Doha summit should have taken the historic step of cancelling these treaties, which would have sent shockwaves across the region and pressured Israel far more effectively than military intervention.

He said the cries of Gaza’s children, women, and elderly demand more than symbolic gestures, insisting that Arab governments have a moral and historic responsibility to act decisively to halt the bloodshed. While people around the world have rallied in unprecedented solidarity with Gaza, Al-Zeer stressed that grassroots mobilisation alone cannot stop the massacres without firm political action.

  • The war, now in its 715th day, has left more than 65,000 Palestinians killed and over 166,000 injured, the majority women and children. In addition, at least 442 people, including 147 children, have died of famine, evidence of what Al-Zeer described as a deliberate policy of extermination carried out with global complicity and Arab acquiescence.
