Haganah’s massacre in Balad al-Sheikh in 1947

Today marks the 73rd anniversary of the barbaric massacre committed by a paramilitary Jewish organization against the people of Balad al-sheikh in south eastern Jaffa, occupied Palestine.

On December 11th 1947, Haganah gangs attacked Balad al-Sheikh, chased the civilians, and killed more than 600 Palestinians (children and women) whose bodies were found inside the village’s houses.

The massacre happened when a group of Palestinian laborers working in a petroleum company rebelled against the Jewish laborers in the same company after the explosion of a bomb outside the company which resulted in killing a number of workers. The Palestinians attacked the Jewish people inside the company with hatches and iron bars, killed and injured about 41.

A big number of the Palestinian laborers were living in the villages of Balad al-Sheikh and Hawasah in south eastern Jaffa and al-Nasserah, which lie next to Nesher settlement. Hence, the Jewish people decided to avenge them.

“As usual, 200 Palestinian were standing in front of the gate of the company, which was under the British occupation, without knowing that the terrorist Zionist organization of Etsel was watching the gate and their gatherings,” Yousef Amtanos, from Kafr Bir’im village, said.

“A car passed by the Palestinian workers waiting outside. It threw a bomb towards the workers, killed 15, and injured dozens of them,” he added.

“Body parts were hurled through the air,” he expressed.

He continued, “when the other workers went outside and saw that horrible scene, they went crazy, attacked the Jewish colleagues and killed 40 of them with pipes and slabs in one hour.”

At evening of the same day, Haganah and other Zionist organizations decided to invade the village and avenge for their Jewish people killed by the Palestinians.

Those terrorist organizations attacked the village with machine guns in the New Year ’s Eve, killed about 600 Palestinian, and displace the rest of the families outside the village, and established Nesher settlement instead.

Since the declaration of the Partition resolution, resolution 181, 1947, Israel crimes against the Palestinian to displace them and Judaize them and have never stopped.
