Israeli authorities issued 375 deportation decisions from Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque during the year 2020, Wadi Hilweh Information Center said.
A report, issued by the center monitors the violations of Israel in Jerusalem during the past year, stated deporting 315 Palestinians from Al-Aqsa Mosque, 15 from Jerusalem, 33 from the Old City, 4 from the West Bank, and 8 travel bans including 15 minors and 66 females.
January, June, and September witnessed the highest rate of deportation decisions, and among the deportees was the head of the Supreme Islamic Authority, Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri, and the deputy director of the Jerusalem Endowments, Sheikh Najeh Bkirat. In addition, the governor of Jerusalem was prevented from entering the West Bank and placed under house arrest inside the town of Silwan.
The center monitored 1979 cases of arrest, including 8 children -less than 12 years- 364 boys, and 100 females, including 3 minors.
Issawiya village recorded the highest number of arrests with 645 cases, followed by the area of Al-Aqsa Mosque, its gates, and the roads leading to it with 365 cases, then the town of Silwan with 298 cases, then the Old Jerusalem with 289 cases, and the village of Al-Tur with 142 cases, in addition to arrests in all towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem.
193 facilities were demolished in Jerusalem, 107 of which were destroyed by their owners by forcible demolition. 114 houses, including 4 residential buildings, 30 commercial establishments, residential rooms, livestock, farms, and building foundations were destructed too.
The village of Jabal Al-Mukaber witnessed the highest rate of demolition in Jerusalem, followed by the town of Silwan, Issawiya, and Beit Hanina, in addition to other demolitions in the towns and neighborhoods of Jerusalem.
Israeli forces killed six Palestinians in Jerusalem under the pretext of attempts to carry out stabbings, shootings, or possession of a knife. They are still holding the bodies of three Jerusalemite martyrs, who are Mesbah Abu Subaih, Fadi al-Qanbar, Aziz Aweissat.
During the year 2020, the Israeli authorities continued to pursuit the Jerusalemite ex-detainees and their families and the families of prisoners under arrest with various decisions and penalties, such as imposing deportation, confiscating money, or withdrawing the right to reside in Jerusalem.
Israaeli authorities issued deportation decisions for a number of the freed prisoners and their families, including deporting Anan Najib from Jerusalem twice in a row for 6 months, under the pretext of practicing activities threatening the security of the region, and the wife of Ahmed Abu Ghazaleh, and Wahid Shabana, under the pretext that their presence in the city is illegal because they carry the West Bank ID.
Moreover, several Jerusalemite families joined the list of those threatened with expulsion from their homes and there was a state of concern about the fate of displacement and deportation in favor of the settlement associations.
Israeli authorities suppressed and prevented a series of events and activities in the city of Jerusalem under the pretext of organizing or sponsoring them by the Palestinian Authority or describing them as illegal.
