Israeli Settlers and Forces Escalate Attacks in West Bank and Al-Aqsa Mosque

Israeli settlers, backed by occupation forces, intensified their assaults on Palestinians on Tuesday, storming Al-Aqsa Mosque, raiding villages across the West Bank, and establishing a new settlement outpost north of Ramallah. In Jerusalem, dozens of settlers entered Al-Aqsa’s courtyards through the Moroccan Gate under heavy police protection, performing Talmudic rituals while Palestinian worshippers faced ID checks and restrictions at the gates. Activists urged increased presence and vigils at the mosque to resist ongoing attempts to Judaize and alter its historic and religious status.

In the West Bank, Israeli forces raided Baqat Al-Hatab near Qalqilya, searching homes and patrolling neighbourhoods, while also storming Hajjah village before withdrawing without arrests. Meanwhile, settlers set up a new outpost in Khirbet Tarafeen, in Atara north of Ramallah, on confiscated Palestinian land. Hassan Mleihat of the Al-Baydar Organisation said the move aims to expand settlements and strengthen Israeli control over Palestinian territory, in direct violation of international law.

The establishment of the outpost followed the displacement of the last Arab Jahalin Bedouin families west of Ramallah, forced from their land after repeated settler attacks. Mleihat noted that the community, which had lived in the area for over 40 years under harsh conditions, was ultimately driven out by violence and threats, highlighting the ongoing pattern of forced displacement and settlement expansion across the West Bank.
