Ministry of Endowments Launches National Qur’an Week in Gaza

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, in partnership with local Qur’anic institutions, has launched the National Qur’an Week across the Gaza Strip. The initiative was announced during a press conference at the Omari Mosque, attended by representatives from participating institutions.

Professor Abd Al-Samee’ Al-Arabid highlighted Gaza’s resilience, stating that despite the devastating Israeli war that destroyed lives and infrastructure, the people of Gaza remain steadfast in preserving and practising the teachings of the Qur’an. He emphasised that the project showcases the community’s dedication to the holy book, both in word and deed, and aims to instil reverence for the Qur’an, seeking blessings and relief for Gaza through its message.

The programme, running from 9 to 16 Ramadan 1447 AH, includes a variety of activities to promote Qur’anic knowledge and honour its memorisers. Events feature lectures, Qur’anic classes, graduation ceremonies for students completing Qur’anic courses, and public processions of Hafiz (memorisers of the Qur’an), among other cultural and educational initiatives aimed at fostering a deeper engagement with the holy text.
