Palestinian prisoner Omar Kharwat has been in solitary confinement for a month

Detainees and Ex-detainees Commission stated that Palestinian prisoner, Omar Kharwat, who is sentenced to life imprisonment, has been suffering from solitary confinement for about a month.

It mentioned that the administration of Israeli jails issued a decision to isolate Kharwat 20 days after he finished his past solitary confinement which lasted for more than 8 months.

During March 2020, Israeli jails’ administration isolated 4 prisoners from the organizing commission of Fatah movement in Rimon prison by force. They are Hatem Qawasmeh, Osama Esaid, Ibrahim Abdelhai, and Kharwat.

“Kharwat was first isolated in Rimon prison and then was moved to Ayalon prison. Afterwards, Israeli issued a decision to end his isolation to re-isolate him a while later for trivial accusations,” the commission added.

Even through Kharwat live in miserable conditions inside Israeli jails, he is in a good health and has high spirits .

The commission worries about continuing the policy of isolation which the administration of Israeli jails adopts against the Palestinian prisoners in which it increases lately, confirming that the isolation cells are like cemeteries violating the prisoners physically and psychologically.

Omar Kharwat, 49, from Hebron, has been in Israeli jails since 2002.
