The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement has announced the death of Azzam al-Hayya, son of senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya, following an Israeli strike in Gaza City late on Thursday. The group said he was killed alongside several other fighters in what it described as a targeted assassination carried out amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on the Strip.
In a statement, the movement offered condolences to Khalil al-Hayya, one of Hamas’s leading political figures in Gaza, and said repeated Israeli assassinations would not weaken armed groups or alter their position. The statement argued that the campaign of killings had failed to break Palestinian resistance despite months of military operations and large-scale destruction across the territory.
The group also said the deaths of political and military figures, along with thousands of Palestinians killed during the war, would further strengthen determination among resistance factions. Israeli authorities have not immediately commented on the strike.
The killing comes as Israeli attacks continue across Gaza despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at maintaining the fragile ceasefire agreement reached last year. Palestinian officials say air strikes, shootings and restrictions on humanitarian aid are continuing to worsen conditions for civilians already facing severe shortages of food, shelter and medical care.
