Deadly Israeli Strike Hits Southern Gaza City as Ceasefire Violations Continue

An Israeli air strike on a residential home in southern Gaza City killed at least one Palestinian and wounded several others on Thursday evening, as attacks across the enclave continued despite the ceasefire agreement announced earlier this year.

The strike targeted a house near the al-Maghribi junction on al-Thalathini Street, an area that has repeatedly come under bombardment during Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza. Witnesses reported scenes of panic and destruction as residents rushed to pull casualties from the damaged building while ambulances struggled to reach the area.

The latest attack has intensified fears among Palestinians that the ceasefire framework has failed to halt the violence. Israeli forces have continued carrying out deadly strikes and military operations across Gaza since the truce came into effect on 10 October under a plan promoted by US President Donald Trump.

Earlier on Thursday, Gaza’s Health Ministry said the death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on the territory had risen to 72,991 Palestinians, with at least 173,219 others injured since October 2023. Thousands more are believed to remain trapped beneath rubble or lying in inaccessible areas as rescue teams face severe obstacles in reaching victims.
