SAFA – Palestinian prisoner advocacy organizations announced the death of former prisoner Ahmad Samir Odeh, 23, from the town of Hawara, south of Nablus, holding the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for his death due to the torture and harsh detention conditions he endured while imprisoned.

The organizations said Odeh had been subjected to repeated arrests by Israeli occupation forces, the latest in February 2026 after he was severely beaten during his arrest. He also spent more than a year and a half in administrative detention without charge or trial.

The prisoner groups said Odeh was released from Israeli prisons suffering from severe physical, psychological, and health complications resulting from systematic torture and abuse during his detention. They said his death reflects the lasting impact of Israeli prison policies on Palestinian detainees, arguing that the consequences of torture and ill-treatment continue even after prisoners are released.
