SAFA- Singaporean authorities have launched an investigation after British music group Massive Attack displayed the Palestinian flag and voiced pro-Palestinian slogans during a concert in the country last Wednesday.

In a statement, Singapore police said they had received reports regarding the incident and confirmed that investigations are ongoing. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), which regulates media and public events, has also opened a separate inquiry to determine whether the concert complied with licensing conditions.

Videos widely shared on social media showed two members of the band raising the Palestinian flag on stage, drawing a strong response from the audience. Witnesses reported that members of the group chanted “Free Palestine,” a slogan that was echoed by many concertgoers.

Singapore maintains strict regulations on the display of foreign national flags and symbols without official authorization. Under the law, violators may face a fine of up to 500 Singapore dollars (approximately $389), imprisonment for up to six months, or both.

Founded in the British city of Bristol in 1988, Massive Attack is known for its political activism, including its longstanding support for Palestinian rights and its criticism of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

In recent years, the band has participated in artistic initiatives and public campaigns supporting Palestinians and has repeatedly called for an end to the war in Gaza.

The investigations come as Massive Attack continues to combine its musical career with political advocacy, maintaining a prominent role among international artists who have voiced support for the Palestinian cause in cultural and musical forums worldwide.
