Palestinian Rights Groups Call for International Probe into Sabra Massacre

SAFA- A coalition of Palestinian civil society groups has urged the launch of an independent international inquiry into the Israeli killing of members of the Abu Shariya and Al-Hassaina families in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood, calling for the Israeli criminals to be held accountable.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the coalition said it was “deeply shocked” by the scenes accompanying the recovery of victims’ remains from beneath the rubble, nearly three years after the area was targeted.

The coalition noted that the prolonged presence of bodies under the debris, alongside the continued disappearance of dozens of individuals, reflects the scale of the humanitarian tragedy that unfolded in the neighborhood.

According to the statement, the Israeli targeting of a densely populated residential block and the resulting deaths of hundreds of civilians, including children, women, and persons with disabilities, constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and warrants a transparent, independent international investigation.

The coalition criticized the international community for failing to ensure accountability or offer protection, saying that the incident is part of a pattern of violations that affect infrastructure and civilians in the Gaza Strip.

It called on the United Nations, the international community, and state parties to the Geneva Conventions to take urgent action to end impunity, adopt concrete measures to protect civilians, and ensure justice for victims and their families.

The coalition affirmed it would continue documenting Israeli violations and pursuing accountability through international legal mechanisms.
