SAFA- Israeli forces and settlers carried out at least 108 attacks and violations against Palestinian journalists and media workers in July, according to the Freedoms Committee of the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate.

In a statement, the committee said the violations included arrests, detention, beatings, interrogation, restrictions on journalists’ movement, and obstruction of their work. Journalists were also targeted with stun grenades and tear gas, while homes and media offices were raided and equipment confiscated or destroyed.

The committee documented 58 cases involving the detention of journalists or obstruction of their professional duties, making these the most frequently recorded violations during the month. It said such restrictions continued as journalists attempted to document developments on the ground.

Settler attacks accounted for 11 cases, in which Palestinian journalists and media crews faced physical assaults, pushing, threats, and attempts to prevent them from reporting, particularly while covering settler attacks and other events across the occupied West Bank.

The committee also documented 12 cases in which journalists were targeted with stun grenades and tear gas. Several journalists suffered breathing difficulties while covering Israeli raids, attacks, and other incidents.

Six journalists were beaten, while four others sustained injuries that caused bleeding while carrying out their work, including while reporting from Gaza. The committee said some of the injuries were caused by shrapnel from missiles and artillery shells.

The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate said the figures reflect the increasingly dangerous conditions facing Palestinian journalists, who continue to document events despite restrictions, attacks, and the risk of injury while reporting from Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
