SAFA — Israeli settlers were responsible for nearly 89% of fires targeting Palestinian homes, vehicles, agricultural land and other property across the occupied West Bank between January 2023 and July 2026, according to a report by the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.

The commission documented 900 fires targeting Palestinian property from January 2023 through July 10, 2026, according to data cited in the report.

Of those incidents, 799 fires, or 88.8%, were attributed to Israeli settlers, while the remaining 101, or 11.2%, were attributed to direct attacks by Israeli forces, the commission said.

The fires affected Palestinian homes, structures, vehicles and agricultural land across the occupied West Bank.

The figures point to a sustained pattern of attacks in recent years, particularly in areas experiencing intensified settlement activity and settler violence.

The incidents were concentrated particularly in the Nablus and Ramallah and al-Bireh governorates, where Palestinian communities have faced repeated settler attacks and restrictions on access to land and property.

The commission said the pattern forms part of broader efforts to undermine Palestinians’ ability to remain on their land and maintain their homes, farms and other sources of livelihood.

The burning of agricultural land can have consequences beyond the immediate destruction, particularly for Palestinian farmers whose livelihoods depend on olive groves and other crops.

The figures come amid continued Israeli settlement expansion and repeated settler attacks across the occupied West Bank.

The commission has warned that settler violence, land seizures, demolitions and movement restrictions are placing increasing pressure on Palestinian communities and threatening their ability to remain in areas targeted for settlement expansion.

The latest figures provide a numerical measure of the scale of such attacks: nearly nine out of every 10 documented fires targeting Palestinian property during the period examined were attributed to Israeli settlers.
