SAFA — Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has vowed to continue pushing for the mass displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip while seeking to strengthen Israeli “sovereignty” over the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem.
In a post on X, Ben-Gvir said he would continue advancing his “Disengagement 710” plan, which seeks the departure of Palestinians from Gaza under what he describes as “voluntary emigration.”
The plan, unveiled days earlier, seeks the departure of around 250,000 Palestinians in its first year, 1.11 million within three years and approximately 1.86 million within seven years.
Ben-Gvir has also proposed establishing a dedicated “Emigration Ministry” to oversee the initiative, including securing destination countries, arranging migration routes and providing assistance packages. He has said the ministry would be among his far-right Otzma Yehudit party’s main demands for joining the next Israeli government.
In the same post, Ben-Gvir said he would continue working to strengthen what he called Israeli “sovereignty over the Temple Mount,” referring to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. He also pledged to further worsen conditions for Palestinian prisoners and advance legislation allowing the death penalty.
His remarks come amid escalating Israeli actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs said Israeli authorities and settlers carried out 26 incursions into the mosque compound during August.
The ministry said the incursions took place under heavy Israeli police protection and were accompanied by religious rituals, while Israeli authorities continued imposing restrictions on Palestinian worshippers.
Ben-Gvir has repeatedly entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and advocated changes to the long-standing status quo governing the holy site, drawing Palestinian warnings over attempts to impose a new reality at one of Islam’s holiest sites.
His latest remarks link two of the Israeli far right’s most controversial objectives: removing Palestinians from Gaza and expanding Israeli control over the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
