SAFA — The main power generator at Al-Maamadani Hospital in Gaza City has stopped working after the fuel and spare parts needed to maintain it ran out, disrupting vital medical services and putting patients and the wounded at further risk.

The shutdown has forced the hospital’s medical imaging department out of service, including the only functioning CT scanner in the northern Gaza Strip.

Medical services have been reduced to a minimum, while a number of surgeries have been postponed as the hospital struggles to maintain operations.

Al-Maamadani Hospital is one of the main medical facilities serving residents of Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip. The loss of its CT scanner represents a major blow to emergency care, particularly for patients and wounded Palestinians requiring rapid diagnosis and urgent medical intervention.

The hospital administration appealed for urgent assistance to provide the fuel and spare parts needed to restart the generator and maintain essential medical services. It warned that a prolonged shutdown could force the hospital to further reduce its operations, putting patients’ lives at risk.

Hospitals across Gaza continue to face severe shortages of fuel, medical supplies and spare parts, undermining their ability to operate vital departments and respond to the needs of patients and the wounded.
