SAFA — More than 68,000 pro-Palestine demonstrations and activities have been documented across Europe over the past three years, reflecting a sustained wave of public mobilization amid Israel’s war on Gaza and its continuing attacks and occupation in the West Bank, according to newly released data from the European Palestinian Media Center (EPAL).
In a report released Monday, EPAL said it documented 68,162 pro-Palestine activities between October 2023 and October 2026 across 818 cities in 30 European countries.
The center described the three-year period as one marked by “genocide and ethnic cleansing” in the Palestinian territories and continuing Israeli attacks.
Of the total number documented, 53,480 were in-person activities, including demonstrations, marches, rallies, sit-ins and other forms of street mobilization, while another 14,682 were digital activities, including online campaigns and virtual events.
EPAL said the figures demonstrate the sustained and visible presence of the Palestinian cause in Europe’s public sphere over the past three years.
The mobilization extended far beyond major capitals and political centers, reaching hundreds of medium-sized and smaller cities and towns across the continent. In several countries, grassroots networks and local initiatives maintained regular, sometimes weekly, Palestine solidarity activities throughout the three-year period.
Italy recorded the highest number of documented activities, with 8,558 events across 188 cities, followed by Germany with 7,839 across 141 cities, Spain with 6,779 across 134 cities and France with 5,977 across 127 cities.
The Netherlands recorded 3,817 events in 30 cities, Denmark 3,715 in 25 cities, Sweden 3,451 in 23 cities, Belgium 2,483 in 23 cities, Ireland 2,066 in 29 cities, Austria 1,962 in 13 cities and Switzerland 1,764 across eight cities.
Significant levels of activity were also documented elsewhere across Europe, including 990 events in Greece, 727 in Norway, 560 in Poland, 521 in Luxembourg and 377 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Portugal recorded 164 events, Czechia 161, Romania 159, Finland 121, Albania 117, Iceland 115, Serbia 112, Malta 110, Slovenia 101 and Croatia 100.
EPAL also documented 93 activities in Cyprus, all concentrated in one city, along with 81 in Hungary, 78 in Estonia and 61 in Lithuania.
The center said the data was compiled through field monitoring and digital tracking in cooperation with Palestinian organizations and associations operating across Europe.
EPAL stressed that the figures represent a documented minimum rather than a comprehensive count of every Palestine solidarity action held across the continent.
The enormous geographic reach of the mobilization, the number and diversity of organizing groups and the difficulty of monitoring every local initiative mean that the actual number of activities could be higher.
The figures also count events rather than participants and therefore do not indicate the total number of people who took part in demonstrations, marches, sit-ins, campaigns and other Palestine solidarity actions.
According to EPAL, the findings reveal a “wide and continuous” wave of popular European mobilization in support of Palestine over the past three years, with street demonstrations and other public actions spreading from major capitals to hundreds of cities and towns across the continent.
