An Israeli massacre committed against 13,000 trees in a day

On January 27th 2021, Israeli forces committed a massacre against the trees in Einun reserve in the east of Tubas, Ramallah.

More than 50 military bulldozers raided Einun village. Israeli forces vandalized 10.000 forest trees, and 300 olive trees.

"A crime follows the other in Aghwar which witnesses a terrible increase in the rate of destruction, uprooting, and demolishion," Aref Daraghmeh, an activist in Aghwar, said.

Einun reserve, a natural reserve, lies in the east of Tubas where beduin families live in. They live a primitive life depending on agriculture and farming goats.

Eight years ago, 400 dunums were plated with trees as a part of a project implemented by the brazilian Consulate in Palestine.

Israel categorizes most of the agricultural lands in Einun as closed military areas that the Israeli army use to implement military drills.

Mahyoob Sawafteh, inspector of forests in the Ministry of Agriculture, recalls how Israel disrupted the afforestration of agricultural lands years ago and confiscated the tools.

"Despite the Israeli crime, we will keep planting. This is our land no matter what Israel categorizes it," he said.

"The Israeli targeting of the natural reserves and the natural, forest areas in Aghwar is not new, in which this area has been an object of Israel's ambitions since years," Motaz Besharat, an official in Aghwar, said.

Besharat finally confirmed that this is our land; we should not allow Israel keep up its policy of fait accompli without our defense.
