Endless Mourning in Gaza as Death Toll Soars Beyond 62,000

Hospitals across Gaza have once again been overwhelmed, receiving 70 bodies and treating 356 wounded in the past 24 hours alone, following relentless airstrikes. Medical staff, already exhausted and working with limited resources, describe the situation as one that no words can capture, as the human cost grows with each passing day.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, more than 62,000 people have been killed and over 157,000 injured since October 2023. These figures reflect only those who reached medical facilities, while countless others remain buried under rubble or trapped in inaccessible areas. Entire families have been wiped out, with their names and stories lost in the dust of destruction.

The health system, once fragile, is now in near total collapse. Hospitals are running out of medicines and equipment, with staff forced to make impossible choices over who to save. Medical centres themselves have been directly targeted, leaving healthcare workers struggling to function under bombardment. The flow of aid remains woefully inadequate, with only a fraction of the trucks needed allowed in, while hundreds of essential food and medical items are deliberately blocked.

What is unfolding in Gaza has surpassed the bounds of any recognised atrocity. It is a reality where death is not only in the skies but also in the hunger, the untreated wounds, and the suffocating despair of a people cut off from the world’s conscience.
