A Palestinian husband appealed to end up his wife’s solitary confinement in Damon prison.

Husband of Fadwa Hamada, a Palestinian prisoner, said that the administration of Damon prison continues to delay ending his wife’s solitary confinement despite the many promises.

Monther Hamada stated today that the prison’s administration has been isolating his wife for 87 consecutive days amid miserable and harsh humanitarian conditions.

“Lawyer Hanan Al-Khateeb could visit Fadwa in Damon prison and told me that the decision of her isolation is issued by an officer in the Israeli army, who rejects to decline it until now,” the Husband said.

He mentioned that the lawyer made an application to the high court to end up Fadwa’s isolation and that they are waiting for the approval, noting that the court did not give a specific date for the response.

He pointed out that the prison’s administration has been preventing him from meeting or contacting his wife for 6 months, under the pretext of the preventive procedures of the coronavirus.

“My wife has been living in harsh conditions, and suffering from the deprivation of the basic needs since her isolation. The administration imposes sanctions over her, arguing that she confronted an Israeli jailer while searching the cells,” he said.

He added, “I went to the Red Cross and several institutions of human rights, asking them to intervene and force Israeli to end up my wife’s isolation, but the prison’s administration continues to reject.”

Hamada called on all concerned, international institutions, and human rights organizations to step in to release his wife out of solitary confinement and end up her suffering which increases a day after the other.

Israeli forces arrested Fadwa, 34, on August 12, 2016, in Jerusalem, under the accusation of her attempt to stab a soldier. They sentenced her to 10 years of imprisonment and imposed on her a fine of 30,000 NIS.

Since her arrest, she was exposed to solitary confinement two times, arguing that she attacked Israeli jailers.

At the beginning of her isolation, the female prisoners in section (3) in Damon prison appealed to the administration of the prison to return Fadwa to the section, but it refused.

Fadwa Hamada is married and has 5 children. The oldest is 10 years and the youngest is 3 and a half.

37 female prisoners in Damon prison suffer from hard conditions of living and arresting. They called on the prison’s administration to improve their conditions of living, but it continues to delay looking into their demands or performing it.
