UN Commission Details Israeli Genocide in Gaza, Crimes Against Humanity in West Bank

SAFA — A United Nations independent commission has detailed the scale of Israeli violations against Palestinians, concluding that Israeli occupation forces are committing crimes against humanity, including extermination, in the occupied West Bank, while reaffirming its earlier finding that Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

In its latest report, the commission said Israeli authorities and military forces had carried out widespread and systematic attacks against Palestinian civilians, driven by discrimination based on national, racial and ethnic identity.

The findings highlight escalating Israeli violence across the occupied Palestinian territories, where military operations, settler attacks, home demolitions and forced displacement continue to threaten Palestinian communities.

Sharp Rise in Deadly Israeli Airstrikes

The report comes ahead of Israel's parliamentary elections scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

According to figures cited in the report, Israeli airstrikes killed six Palestinians in the occupied West Bank between 2008 and October 6, 2023.

Between October 7, 2023, and September 30, 2026, that number rose to 254.

The commission said Israel had pursued a policy of collective punishment against Palestinian civilians, combining military operations with continued settler violence.

It warned that deliberate killings, injuries and the destruction of Palestinian homes, together with Israel's refusal to accept responsibility, formed part of a broader pattern of attacks aimed at destroying Palestinian communities, forcing residents from their land and imposing unbearable living conditions.

In September, the UN Human Rights Office also warned that Israeli operations had forcibly displaced more than 33,000 Palestinians from three refugee camps in the occupied West Bank during 2025, raising concerns about crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing.

More than three million Palestinians live under Israeli occupation in the West Bank, alongside more than 500,000 Israeli settlers living in settlements considered illegal under international law.

Israeli settler attacks, land seizures and home demolitions continue to increase pressure on Palestinian families struggling to remain on their land.

Genocide in Gaza and Continued Israeli Attacks

In the Gaza Strip, Palestinian civilians continue to face Israeli gunfire and military attacks near or across the so-called Yellow Line, which marks areas under Israeli military control.

The commission warned that Israel's expanding control over parts of the devastated territory continues to expose civilians to death and injury.

In January 2024, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to take measures to prevent acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention, finding that Palestinians in Gaza faced a real and imminent risk of irreparable harm.

The UN commission had already concluded in a previous report that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza.

Israeli authorities rejected the commission's latest findings and accused the investigators of antisemitism and making false allegations.

Israel's ambassador in Geneva, Daniel Meron, described the report as an attempt to destroy the Jewish state and deny its right to exist.

The Israeli mission also called for the commission, previously led by Navi Pillay, to be dissolved.

Commission Also Criticizes Palestinian Authority

The report also criticized the Palestinian Authority over violence against members of rival armed groups, repression of civilian and political opponents, and failures to conduct prompt, effective and impartial investigations into abuses.

The commission's findings draw renewed attention to the protection of Palestinian civilians, accountability for violations of international law and the consequences of continued Israeli military operations, settler violence and forced displacement across the occupied Palestinian territories.
