A popular committee in the Gaza strip said on Monday that the unemployment rate among women in the Strip is over 80%.

A statement by the Popular Committee Against the Siege stated that the suffering of Palestinian women is doubled. Despite that they still sacrifice and work hard, so the Palestinian women must have a role and place and their energies should be invested in development.

The Palestinian women bear important family burdens and live the brunt of the siege in Gaza, settlement in the West Bank, Judaization, detention, and deportation in Jerusalem, and targeting everywhere from house demolitions, detention, and all forms of aggression”.

The International Women's Day in Palestine differs, especially in Gaza the humanitarian conditions are more difficult, and the role of the Palestinian women remains a safety valve in all stages, the committee added.

The statement stressed that the participation of women in the upcoming Palestinian elections, as a candidate and election, has great importance.
