Half of the Palestinian refugees in Syria leave their camps due to the Syria war

UNRWA said in a statement that more than half of the Palestinian refugees moved away, at least once, since the start of the Syria war.

The statement added that 120.000 searched for peace and security in neighboring countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. 

"The Palestinians constituted a vital society of 550.000 in Syria. They came to Syria in two main waves in 1948 and 1967 and settled in 12 camps all over the world," UNRWA stated. 

Al-Yarmouk camp for the Palestinian refugees gained the name of "the capital of the Palestinian refugees in the diaspora.

UNRWA confirmed that it will rehabilitate its constructions in Syria to enable it to supply help and aid in the regions the Palestinian refugees live in. 

It also mentioned that it is planning to rehabilitate the building in Al-Yarmouk camp to use is as a multi-purpose center as 500 Palestinian refugee families returned to the camp.
