New Democratic Party in Canada voted for a draft decision calling for boycotting the illegal Israeli products and banning the arms trade with Israel.
"The draft decision submitted by Jewish and Palestinian activists came after years of calling on the party's members to take a clear position of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," the party said in a statement.
"The adoption of the draft followed the unprecedented support the party received from the grassroots level," one of the main organizers of the new Democratic Party conference said.
"The position adopted by the party is not only supported by the members of the New Democratic level, but also by the Canadian Labour Congress and the Candian citizens in general," she added.
A survey conducted by the Canadian EKOS Research Center in 2017 confirmed that 78% of Canadians believe that the Palestinian calls to boycott the Israeli products is rational in light of the ongoing Israeli violations against human rights, according to the statement.
The statement added that the adopted policy receives strong support among the main labor congresses in Canada, including the Canadian Labour Conference which represents more than three million laborers all across the country.
Another organizer of the conference said that adopting this policy today makes the New Democratic Party one of the few parties calling for ending the Canadian support to illegal settlements and end the arms trade from and into Israel so the Palestinians can enjoy freedom.
