Israel transfers prisoner Sawarka from Ashkelon Prison to Ramla Hospital


The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee said on Monday that the Israeli Prisons Administration transferred the hunger-striking prisoner, Imad Sawarka from Ashkelon Prison to the Ramla Prison Clinic.

The committee clarified that the prisoner Swarka, 37, from Jericho, is fighting his battle in protest against his administrative detention 47 days ago, and he had announced his strike after his administrative detention was extended for four months so that this extension is the third in a row for the same period of renewal.

Prisoner Swarka is currently facing poor health conditions, as he suffers from general fatigue, wasting in the body, pain in the abdomen, head, and stomach, and has lost more than 18 kg of weight.

It is noteworthy that the prisoner Swarka, who is married and the father of five children, has been detained since July of last year, and he is an ex-prisoner who spent 10 years in the Israeli prisons.

As for the journalist prisoner Alaa al-Rimawi, 43, from Ramallah, he is continuing his strike for the 13th day in a row to refuse his administrative detention. Rimawi is currently languishing in the cells of the Ofer Detention Center, under harsh conditions.

Knowing that the journalist Rimawi has been detained since April 21 of this year, and he is an ex-prisoner who spent 11 years in the Israeli prisons, and he is married and the father of five children too.
