Israel releases prisoner Humaid after spending 18 years in prisons


Israeli authorities on Wednesday released the prisoner Izzeddine Ibrahim Humaid, 46, from the city of Bethlehem, in the south of the West Bank, after finishing his 18-year sentence.

Humaid was arrested on Mar 4, 2021, after besieging his house, blowing up the doors in a brutal manner, and shooting inside the house, and transferred to interrogation in Etzion and then to Al-Maskobiyya detention center, which continued with him for more than two months.

Besides, the Palestinian Prisoners Media Office indicated that the Israeli intelligence charged the prisoner Humaid, who is married and a father of five children, with belonging to the Islamic Jihad movement and participating in carrying out armed operations against the Israeli forces that resulted in seriously injuring some Israeli soldiers.

Two and a half years after his arrest, the Ofer Military Court issued a verdict of 18 years imprisonment.
