Hamas hails resilience of Palestinians of Jerusalem, calls to continue resistance

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas hailed the resistance and resilience of the Palestinian people who have been fighting violent Israeli occupation forces who are evicting them from their homes.

Hamas said in a statement, a copy of which obtained by Safa, "Oh, our people of Jerusalem who have been engaged in fighting Israeli occupation forces at the Damascus Gate, Sheikh Jarrah Neighbourhood and all villages and neighbourhoods of Jerusalem to continue your freedom struggle against the occupation."

"Today, the Israeli settlers desecrate our holy places and attempt to force Palestinians at Sheikh Jarrah Neighbourhood out of their hometown. The Zionist organisation also calls on settlers to break into Al-Aqsa Mosque on 28th of the holy month of Ramadan, defying the Palestinian people and the Arab and Islamic Ummah. However, the Palestinian people will not keep silent and will act in defence," the movement highlighted.

"The Palestinians should be extremely cautious, as the battle at the Sheikh Jarrah Neighbourhood, the Damascus Gate, and Al-Aqsa has not ended yet," it added.

Meanwhile, Hamas called on the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the occupied 1948 territories to head to and stay in Al-Aqsa at the Qadr Night (the night of the 27th day of Ramadan) and not to leave the Mosque until the morning of Eid al-Fitr.

It also urged the Palestinian resistance in Gaza to be fully prepared for any development, saying that the Israeli occupation must realize that the resistance is prepared to defend al-Aqsa at any cost.

Moreover, it called on the Palestinian people in the diaspora and the Arab and Islamic Ummah to mobilise support and express solidarity with the Palestinian people in Jerusalem as a way of contributing to the Palestinians’ steadfastness there.

"We hail the Palestinian people across Palestine who have proven that they are able to foil any plot against Palestinian holy places. Particularly, we hail female Jerusalemite freedom fighters for their active participation in fierce battles against the Israeli occupation in Jerusalem and at Al Aqsa Mosque," the statement concluded.
