The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee reported on Sunday that the sick prisoner, Muwafaq Arouk, 78, from the occupied Palestinian territories is facing a difficult health condition, as it is worsening in the Ashkelon detention center.
In a statement reached Safa, the authority stated that the prisoner suffers from lung problems and vomits daily and complains of numbness in his feet, constant fatigue and aches throughout his body, and suffers from cancer in the liver and stomach.
The prisoner Arouq urgently needs urgent medical follow-up, and the provision of a special type of food and vitamins, because of his poor health condition.
The authority indicated that during June 2019, difficult health symptoms began to appear on the prisoner Arouq and it was later found that he had cancer after medical examinations.
It was confirmed that the Israeli prison administration delayed providing chemotherapy to the prisoner until November of the same year, which deteriorated his condition during that period, and after several treatment sessions he underwent, the occupation doctors confirmed that he had exhausted the chemotherapy without helping him.
Arouq is from the town of Yafa, Nazareth, and he has been detained since 2003 and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
