The Ministry of Health in Gaza has issued a dire warning: the enclave is facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe as Israeli bombardment and famine combine to devastate its population. Hospitals are overwhelmed, the healthcare system teeters on collapse, and the daily death toll continues to rise.
Dr Munir Al-Bursh, Gaza’s Health Ministry Director General, revealed that over the past three months, hospitals have been receiving approximately 100 casualties each day due to direct Israeli strikes. Among these, an average of 28 children are killed daily, underscoring the relentless targeting of civilians.
Starvation is taking an equally brutal toll. In just 48 hours, 20 people have died from hunger-related causes, with many collapsing in the streets from extreme weakness. The malnutrition crisis has led to new health emergencies, including a spike in cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder exacerbated by poor nutrition and contaminated water. Gaza’s depleted medical supplies make adequate treatment impossible.
UNICEF has sounded the alarm over child malnutrition, describing the situation as catastrophic and warning that both food and clean water supplies are critically below emergency levels. The Health Ministry calls urgently on the international community to end the siege and halt the ongoing massacres. Without immediate intervention, the death toll will only climb, deepening Gaza’s suffering in a crisis the world can no longer ignore.
